We started with some review of the day before and covering some basic logistics.
Mike showed a few videos
Turbines exploding >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nSB1SdVHqQ
Flying Through a Wind Farm >> http://www.geekosystem.com/wind-turbine-flyby/
Joe, Keith and Rick showed everyone how to make a PVC basic turbine and we shared our new bases and towers. Surprisingly a few people had never put those together!! It is also hard to believe that we have not had time to make blades and do some testing >> Wednesday morning!
After that we had Mike K give us a pretty intense lecture on Wind Resource Assessment. As a wind geek I was really into much of what he was sharing. I am sure for many others in the room it was a little too much. His Power Point is listed below and here is a link to the website with all the data he shared >> https://sites.google.com/a/rams.colostate.edu/csu-wac/
After that we had a short discussion about history of WindWise and KidWind. Then we moved onto a lecture from Dan & Dan at otherpower and buckville publishing.

It was really great stuff that many teacher were really into. Joe and Mike think we need to find a way to get them to Saint Paul for a training. Then I can go and not have to travel.
TUESDAY AFTERNOON 1-5
We trucked out to Vestas (http://www.vestas.com/) for the afternoon. WOW!!!! Quite the tour of a modern blade manufacturing plant. The wildest thing is that they make blades completely different than the LM Wind Power blade plant I have been to in North Dakota.
Vestas was very gracious to have us I think we were very lucky to get a tour.
We finally made it home at 5:30 and then a few of us hustled to New Belgium for a back stage tour. Quite a long and crazy day....hard to believe we have another long one tomorrow.
